Faux metal technique

Well I decided to have a go at the Mojo Monday sketch 88, although I am not brave enough to enter it on their site. And here is my finished attempt

A close up of the faux metal that I made....

Yes this is another new technique from me. And another addition to my blog in such a short space of time. I have been housebound for the last couple of days with a sick baby - who's sleeping a lot, so I have found plenty of time to work quietly on my papercafts.

Faux metal is an incredibly simple concept and the results are stunning. You just need a little time, embossing powder, versamark, stamps and a heat gun. I will look at running a class in my home in the not to distant future, so if you would like to come please email me.

Card: Basic Black, Taken With Teal, Elegant Eggplant.

Ink: Versamark

Ribbon: Purple 1/4" grosgrain (non-SU)

Embellishments: Metallic eyelets (retired)

Stamp sets: Circle Circus, Best Yet (hostess set) and Rustic Rooster (hostess set)
Cuttlebug: That's my type - embossing folder

There are a couple of ways to get the hostess set and the first is to host a workshop, however if you can't do that, perhaps you could show the Ideas Book and Catalogue and collect orders, via a catalogue party. To order an Idea Book and Catalogue, just email me at soniagarbutt@yahoo.com.au

Big Wig Scrapbook Page

Wow, I am on fire. This is my third post in three days. I am guessing that it will slow down again soon. Well above is my first ever attempt at scrapbooking. I have scoured many blogs and have been inspired.

A lot of the materials used in this are retired or non-SU, but I thought it was best to put it up here on the blog anyway to show you what is possible. Even for beginners. I have decided that I need to invest in a lot more paper, so I am taking advantage of the May special of buying three selected DSP and receiving another on FREE. Get in quick as this finishes tomorrow!

Card: Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery and Pink Pirrouhette
Ink: Purely Pomegranate (retired)
DSP: Berry Bliss (retired)
Stamp Sets: In the Spotlight (retired) and Polka Dot Punches (retired)
Embellishments: Kaiser paper flowers and Bella cardboard chips

Crayon Resist Technique

Well here I am with some cards made using the crayon resist technique. These were my first attempts and unfortunately I didn't have all the correct equipment. The Ocean Commotion Fish was stamped using Basic Black and when I went over it with my ink, it picked up the black and smudged this around it. All in all, although it isn't what I expected it didn't turn out too bad.

Card: Tango Tangerine, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point and Blue Bayou (retired)
Stamp Sets: Ocean Commotion
Embellishments: Light Blue Chunky Sprinkles
Extras: White crayon - used one of my daughters and it didn't resist too well.

This was my second attempt at this technique and I used the Staz On Black, with much better results. I believe that the white crayon worked better this time as it wasn't picking up the black ink, as happened in the Ocean Commotion fish. I used my sponge daubers to add the ink to these pictures in an ad hoc manner.
Card: Pink Pirouhette, Whisper White and Rose Red
Ink: Pink Pirouhette and Kiwi Kiss
Ribbon: 1cm pink grosgrain (non SU)
Stamp set: Priceless
Punches: Scallop Edge and Photo Corners Punch
If you would like to know more about this technique or would like me to come and demonstrate how it is done, please email me at soniagarbutt@yahoo.com.au

Get Whale Soon

Here we are with a very different card to ones I have made in the past. This card was whipped up very quickly, when I found out a friend had slipped off into hospital without telling anyone and was coming home that day. No pressure there.

It was a bit garish, but I was trying to use colours that I knew my friend likes, even if they aren't my favourites.

The following ingredients were used to make this card:

Card: Tangerine Tango, Ruby Red,

Ink: Staz on Black, Versamark

Watercolour crayons: Rich Regals

Ribbon: Baja Breeze 1" double stitched grosgrain, Purely Pomegranate 3/8" double stitched ribbon (retired)

Stamp sets: Pun Fun, Circle Circus

Embellishments: Tombow and Light Blue Chunky Sprinkles

A Priceless Birthday

Wow! Another week is nearly over and I am only just getting around to getting this post up. This is a sweet little card that I made for a friend of my daughters birthday this week. It was very quick and easy to make and is simply beautiful.

Card: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouhette, Basic Grey
Ink: Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze
Ribbon: Baja Breeze 1" Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
Stamp Sets: Priceless and Fun and Fast Notes
Extras: Cuttlebug Mesh Embossing Folder - I would have used the Polka Dot background stamp if I owned it - just another thing to add to my wishlist
